Und ja, ich kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass die Habgier und Kurzsichtigkeit einiger weniger und Gefangenschaft der sonstigen Weltbevölkerung in unhaltbarer Konsumgesellschaft in den letzten paar Jahrzehnten Ereignisse in Bewegung gebracht hat, die unser Leben kurzfristig stark ändern werden. Braucht schon beides. Stell dir vor, wir schaffen es trotz Allem noch, das Steuer irgendwie rumzureissen, nur um dann ne ganze Generation ohne Geld zu haben.

I would recommend a VM to try a few things. HyperV, while not the greatest, is good to start off and comes with Windows Pro. Set up a Debian or Ubuntu and a Windows VM and take away its internet. That should get you most of the way.

we use vmware because customers do. if they migrate - which they might because of the licensing thing - we will too. so it’s an actual possibility already.

You’re probably right. The setup they have now is an old netgear nighthawk with an AP to cover the second story. It works fine if it works, but it needs to be restarted when the prepaid internet shuts off and comes back. My dad rewired the AP and then wondered why it didn’t work anymore.
