ELI5: why is BRICS suddenly a thing and what is it?

I’ve always known BRIC to mean four countries, which may or may not have similar interests. Ok, add South Africa, that makes it 5 countries.

Until recently, I did not think of BRICS as a bloc or an organisation. What are they? What does it mean if a country seeks to join?

I wrote it in German and I’ll repeat it here. The headlines are misleading.

The youth did not turn to the (extreme) right.

There was a shift to the (moderate and extreme) right bloc across all ages. This is within the typical range for Germany. (Throughout history, the left did not win many elections.)

And there was a shift inside the right bloc to the extreme. This is somewhat unusual, but again, it happened throughout all ages. It’s not young people.

In fact, the youngest voter group gave fewer votes to the right than any other group. (However, they also did not vote for greens as much as five years ago.)

The Nazi parties only win if we let them steal the media narrative.

Da passiert gerade etwas. Das ist die FAZ, ein serlöses konservatives Medium. Und sie eröffnet mit einer populistischen Lüge.

Während wir auf die AfD schauen, dreht die bürgerliche Mitte, so darf man FAZ und Union ja wohl nennen, völlig ab. Das ist kein leichtes Driften nach rechts. Das ist Bildzeitung im Maßanzug.

Ich will nicht behaupten, dass früher alles besser war, aber es gab Zeiten, da hätte die Chefredaktion der FAZ das nicht durchgehen lassen. Und alle anderen Zeitungen hätten das der FAZ auch nicht durchgehen lassen.

Es geht mir hier nicht um Meinung. Es geht um die bewusst weggelassene “Anmerkung der Redaktion”, die klarstellt, das ein Verbrennerverbot gar nicht zur Diskussion steht.

Ich war auch positiv überrascht vom Programm und bin gespannt, was da noch kommt.

If someone in my instance follows the author, will I also see it?

Can you clarify this? As a normal user with one of the standard clients, who is on one random instance and follows people on other instances, we are missing Likes and Boost? I can live this, it’s just a number. But, are we also missing replies? I don’t expect OP to retoot all replies, but I do want to read them? At least i want the option the read them.

Seh das mal nicht als Problem. Die Atomkraft hat sich überlebt, zu teuer. “Der Markt regelt das”, “technologieoffen”. Wir müssen nur verhindern, dass Politikis irrational Atomkraftwerke pushen. Rational wird das nicht mehr passieren. Es braucht als keine ideologischen Verbot der AKWs.

Ja, das ist richtig, aber woher weiß der Wähler das? Die Genauigkeit der Umfragen dürfte doch bei so etwa ±1%-Punkt liegen.

Das größte Problem ist, dass die Klimaliste unbekannt ist und in der öffentlichen Debatte keine Rolle spielt. LG ist interessant, weil es eine klare Proteststimme ist und weil man davon ausgehen kann, dass die Aktiviti einen Platz im Europaparlament auch nutzen.

Persönlich wäre mir eine Klimaliste, die nicht mit den Aktionen der LG in Verbindung gebracht wird lieber. LG ist APO, hier geht es um das Parlament.

Also sowas wie die Grünen, von denen wir ein schärferen Auftreten einfordern sollten.

Wir wissen nicht wie alt OP ist und der Wahlzettel weiß es auch nicht. Es tut auch nichts zu Sache. Du hast sachlich recht.

Ich wollte hat keine Annahme über das tatsächliche Alter des Wählers machen, sondern über die Wirkung in der Öffentlichkeit.

Gibt es die nicht bei allen Parteien?

Du brauchst 0.7% der Stimmen für einen Sitz. Eine große Partei braucht 0.7% mehr für einen weiteren Sitz. Eine kleine Partei braucht 0.7% um reinzukommen.

Die Bedenken teile ich: Wenn LG und Klimaliste zusammen auf einen Sitz kommen würden, alleine allerdings nicht, dann sind die Stimmen verloren.
