I don’t believe this is real, but the all caps words aren’t random. They’re clearly for emphasis, the same kinds of words I might capitalize for effect. That is not really the unbelievable aspect of this scenario.
Hasn’t Rutte always been known for being able to handle Trump well? I’m pretty sure the only way to do that is kiss his ass in a way he understands, so this doesn’t seem too surprising.
I can tell you as a Dutchman, reading this I could hear Mark Rutte’s voice and it aligns with his anglophile suck-up character.
I couldn’t see him writing it any other way.
This is Mark Rutte.
He would totally say “Europe is going to pay in a BIG way” to flatter Trump.
Incessant comma splices is I guess typically Dutch and indicative to the way Rutte talks. I sometimes do it too.
He’s a liberal, making him almost as right-wing as Ursula von der Leyen, not a social democrat
or a democratic socialist or left of that.
It isn’t really a quiet part, though, never has been. NATO has openly been a millitary alliance for the purpose of maintaining Western Imperialism headed by the US, no more and no less, since its inception.
Really?
I’d say it hits it completely on point the way Rutte is, an anglophile that doesn’t want to rustle too many feathers unless it’s against leaders of countries outside of NATO.
His party is super-pro-Israel and super-anti-Russia.
What’s he gonna complain about?
Things I’d want to know before deciding for myself whether the screenshot montage is real, regardless of whether Trump shared it (he did):
Have we seen other screenshots where Trump use enormous font sizes? Is that how bigger system text looks in this app? He’s not exactly youthful, so it’s no great surprise, but worth asking the question.
Is it realistic that Trump or an aide would have screenshotted the entire message within two minutes of it being received?
Does this messaging app routinely display the contact name offset and the profile image vertically cropped? What app is it?
Don’t know about any of it, but I’ve had Rutte as my prime minister.
This reads like the way he talks and thinks.
The biggest strength of Rutte is that he’s a chameleon,
so there’s no telling what he actually thinks,
but considering his party allegiance it’s pro-NATO through and through.
This can’t be real
Real tweet, fake text… no way any NATO leader would say “Europe is going to pay BIG” it’s just too Trump. Same with the incessant comma splices.
But big congrats to Trump for ruining the information space so completely that I genuinely cannot tell what’s real anymore.
I’m sure EVERY European politician randomly CAPITALISES words like some LUNATIC
And signs their essay texts with their name. Very common as we all know.
It’s Mark Rutte. He certainly would write it like this.
I don’t believe this is real, but the all caps words aren’t random. They’re clearly for emphasis, the same kinds of words I might capitalize for effect. That is not really the unbelievable aspect of this scenario.
@BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz
This user is great when it comes to mimicking this.
He’s a true American PATRIOT who loves America BIGLY

kissing his ass and conceding all his demands is not “handling trump well” lmao
AP is reporting this as real
I would love and hate to see proof that Mark Rutte really texted this to Trump.
The “Truth” post is 100% real, inarguably, but I haven’t seen anyone reporting the picture is of a real message from Rutte to Trump.
E: never mind that is… apparently Rutte’s office has confirmed the message is really from Rutte???
???
I need to go lie down.
I’m confused why people are surprised at this, to be honest. It’s entirely expected.

It’s entirely expected, not sure why you’re in disbelief.
It reads like something Trump wrote about himself. He’s done that kind of bullshit before.
Trump has also leaked private messages before.
Or something written to pander to him.
If you know Mark Rutte long enough, you can tell the difference.
This has been my thought the whole time. It looks read like something someone with an IQ 43 would write about themselves. That or they had Grok do it.
If you know Mark Rutte long enough, then you know it’s his style of flattering a person by mimicking him, mixed in with his own style of speech.
It’s saying the quiet part out loud. Surely anyone who sees this will be outraged?
It isn’t really a quiet part, though, never has been. NATO has openly been a millitary alliance for the purpose of maintaining Western Imperialism headed by the US, no more and no less, since its inception.
The Rutte team has confirmed it was indeed a real text sent by Mark Rutte to Trump.

Ran a quick search and multiple well established news outlets are reporting this.
I’m afraid it is.
The wording does seem very out of character for Rutte but it makes sense that he feels the need to stoop to Trump’s level and overdo the flattering.
Really?

“Really, really”
